Bertha starts off a little unsure-is it gonna happen tonight?- then Keith hammers on the piano- the entire mood picks way up- Get this one and all others - including tomorrow night's extravaganza- shall pale in the comparison. So far this is the best sound quality show I've found on here. Next, I have always believed Jerry got very hyped for Jack straw. RRRRRaceway Park! I'm only 31 years old. Anyway, it is a blessing to have access to all of these wonderful recordings. Peace. Don't get me wrong the tunes from the albulm created maybe great jams but the live version of Terrapin always fell apart like no other. So this is simple, as the Grateful Dead were all actually human beings (contrary to various lysergically induced musings), it was not possible for them to play a perfect show. The show, as I listen to it now, has been overrated. Didn't realize until today that the show came on Mother's Day of 77. Search the history of over 752 billion As far as the set list here and throughout spring 77, they played the heck out of Help-Slip-Franklins-Sampson. The only one I can think of that is better is 5/7/77 Boston Garden . Anyone have any insight into this, This tour was when Misszippi and sugaree became monster vehicles for Garcia. I'd just like to say that we should all be celebrating the fact that this music is being revistited by people of all ages, and all tastes - enforcing the fact that bands like the grateful dead and the allman brothers are going to be timeless. It was merely a preview of what was to come.We were sitting stage left just slighly above the band,so we could hear the drums&lifiers before being pumped through the sound system. This version of 'Jack Straw' is especially lethargic and disappointing. Reviewer: medegz9507 - favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite - March 7, 2015 Subject: Amazing! Eyes is another guitar solo heaven starting with the intro. This show has been the most influential musical event in my life. In addition, any show officially released by GDP may not be downloaded. One of their best shows ever, I don't care if some people think its "overrated". Prophet guitar effects and sweet solo. scar>fire is beyond belief. My friend and I pulled into a campground near DeerCreek '91, and the guy next to our spot was blasting this show. Come on now. See the FAQ, and the collection's policy notes below for more information. Despite the fact that I think this show is overrated (though you should keep in mind that this is not my favorite era), the Estimated > Eyes is one of the best I have heard. '77 has a ton of good stuff - no real digs at Donna hereshe's holding up her end of the bargain quite well. Amazing show, one of the best ever played, keith was the most overrated of the dead piano players, brent the most underrated, ive ever many a show where what 70 heads call "blending" into the sound that keith does, sounds more like dissapearing into the sound to me,many an uninspiring moment played by keith, hes no vince welnick, but hes no pigpen our brent either, was this the beginning of the end for the dead? I myself am partial to it. everyone has said that's all that is to be said. I am by no means an expert on live Dead recordings. one of the best shows ever. Those that want commercial releases will buy them regardless. 124 . i think may 7th in boston should be grateful dead day instead of tomorow night. Jerry is just too good for words in '77. He's alive throughout 71 and 72, and there are other dates too numerous to mention, but on the above boards you can hear him very clearly. He was GREAT in those years with the largest variety of sounds and jazzy interplay.Check out numerous versions of Weather report from late 73 until 10/74 when he varied his sound/keyboards and play on all the different versions as an example..Back to spring 77 I like Garcia's sound/tone better in late 77/78 etc but as a whole the band/recordings sound better from the Spring 77. Billy Cobham William Emanuel Cobham Jr. (born May 16, 1944) is a Panamanian-American jazz drummer who came to prominence in the late 1960s and early 1970s with trumpeter Miles Davis and then with the Mahavishnu Orchestra . It has three separate, distinct jams, all of which could stand alone and still be amazing--but no, they are all part of one song, and collectively they constitute the sweetest 20 or so minutes of listening pleasure. In spite of the fact that high quality shows abound from this run, this show is just about perfect. jerry is too low in the mix, and the board gets kind of muddy in the upper frequencies.
